Actually...

Me and Rai came up with something for Leon joining the Empire. Simply put Mateus gave him no other alternative: if he did not join, then Mateus would just kill Firion and the others without hesitation.

^And that was when Rai discovered that she could write SRS/Magnificent Bastard!Mateus...AND IT WAS GLORIOUS.
