"It needs to be done. That bastard has screwed me over too many times. He needs to realize that humans are more than just tools to be used and cast aside."

Expecting the conversation to be over and done, the young woman turned around and began to walk away from the throne. The armored knight standing beside it could only watch, somehow managing to contain the conflicting emotions he was feeling at that moment. With a deep breath, he tries one more time to stop her from leaving.

"You'll be playing right into his hands, Lightning."

That made her stop, though she did not turn around to face him. "I know. I know that better than anyone else on our side." As she speaks, her hand moves to her chest. The pulse is very faint, but she can still feel it; a subtle reminder that she must answer the call, because that is the way things must be.

The Warrior of Light coming up behind her has a different opinion.

"So you've just given up, then? You're stronger than this! Fight it with all you have, Lightning." Usually, emotional interactions are a private matter, even from the Goddess they fight for; Siegfried breaks that unwritten rule the moment his arms wrap around Lightning's waist. He does not want to lose her to the Fal'Cie, even though he realizes that outcome is inevitable. After a few minutes, the pinkette slowly pries herself free from his grip and finally turns around to face him.

"My defiance won't change anything, Siegfried; he'll just do a roundabout plan to set me right back on the course he wants." Her no-nonsense, defeatist tone is so unlike her, the man can't help wondering if this is the woman he knows and loves. A part of him wishes to pretend it's a deception orchestrated by the enemy but he knows better than to indulge in such flights of fancy. His thoughts are interrupted by Lightning's hand as it settles on his cheek.

"It's better to give him what he wants and avoid all the bullshitting he'd throw my way if I did otherwise. I wish I could stand against him and defy him openly, even more than you realize. As things stand, my options are limited."

"Claire..." Not for the first time since she told him her intentions last night, he wishes he could follow and fight beside her. The disciplined warrior in him knows better than to take this course of action; Siegfried will not let his desires get in the way of protecting Cosmos.

"Be careful out there." Somehow he manages not to make it sound like a desperate plea as he watches her pull away and resume walking towards the gateway that provided the entrance to Sanctuary. The only indication that she heard him at all is a parting wave.

Assuming his original position near Cosmos' throne, Siegfried can do little else except watch her leave.

First off, I'm not too familiar with Lightning or WoL so my opinion isn't the best. Also I'm a fairly terrible writer so again, my advice is limited. I will try my best however.

You certainly have a grasp of Lightning's 'voice' with regards to her dialogue from what I gather; blunt, informal and speaking straight from the heart. Though I think maybe a few of her sentences seem too long and might need a break in between with an action or two, just so it feels as though she's taking a breath and not saying it all in one go.

WoL...baaaww...poor guy. You did a good job of setting up the heaviness throughout this scene but the last little bit right before they part might need one little bit extra to show WoL's reasons for not following Lighning. Just something as simple as a glance towards Cosmos and commenting on how frail and alone she looks in comparison to the strong and independent Lightning, so it really hits home that WoL is conflicted but ultimately has to choose his duty over his desire.

All in all I enjoyed it, particularly the ending line. It's powerful yet concise. Nice work.

Thanks for the feedback. Anyway can you blame the poor guy for worrying and/or wanting to be her assist help her out? She's going to fight one-on-one with Barthandelus (while Lightning has Anima's brand it seems that once a Fal Cie passes on their Lcie are up for grabs IDK), the Magnificent Bastard that made her a Lcie and is responsible for most of the crap she and her party go through in her own game. I'm not sure if I'll continue it or just leave it as it is...We'll see.

Happy to be of service. I understand how frustrating it can be when it comes to evaluating your own work and outside opinions always help. (I'm a coward when it comes to those sort of things truth be told)

Listen to your heart. If you feel as though it has potential then write. You obviously have a lot of passion for these two and it'd be a shame to let it go to waste.

Well...I'll try something again soon...first Mateus needs to have his butt kicked. *playing Tidus' chapter* On a side note, it just sunk in that Lightning is taking him on by herself...the first fight with him in Chapter 9 was difficult enough WITH a party...D8

Yeah though I always die a little inside when Tidus mentions the "I thought I saw a girl I knew..." line. YOU DID KNOW HER YOU MORON AND NOW SHE'S GOOONEEEE =C

She broke the forces of nature, yo! No one on Spira can say Tidus' name; it's a worldwide disability! What's next...Kuja wearing pants!?

In his defence his mind has the consistency of pudding throughout Dissidia. Hell, he arrived at the same time as Cecil and that guy didn't even remember having a brother! Which makes me wonder how lulzy Zidane's encounter with Kuja in his first cycle would've been:

Zidane: (Wow...she's hot. Totally flat but hot nonetheless) I'm sorry...have we met before? It's just that I'd be certain never to forget a face as pretty as yours.
Kuja: *pulls WTF!? face*
Zidane: *laying it on thick* For if a lady so beautiful only the angels themselves could've carved her were to ever cross my path, there is no way I could ever let her out of my sight.
Kuja: *clears throat* First off: stop pilfering from Lord Avon so shamelessly, you mangy thief.
Zidane: *pulls WTF!? face* YOU'RE A GUY!?
Kuja: Secondly: why hello my dear baby brother, how have you been keeping?
Zidane: *jaw hits ground*
Kuja: Very well then?

But Dissidia isn't set in Spira...
