Started a new game on DDFF, and I'd probably delete the old file if not for fear of losing Rai's friend card info. I just felt it wasn't getting anywhere. Thanks to FC, I was pretty much stuck and not really getting anywhere in 000.

Here's hoping this try goes better than the last. *regrets not buying a guide for this game*

Sometimes starting over's a good thing. Helps you appreciate everything a little more now that you know what to expect so you can pay a little more attention to the finer details. Also it can breathe new interest into it.

I'll be doing the same thing from scratch when my Japanese version of 012 eventually arrives and WITHOUT save data because I'll have to use a different memory card so that if I want to download stuff from the Japanese PSN I won't lose my EU account. Nice to know there's someone else in the same boat!

Ugh and I hear you on the lack of game guide front. Technically I have TWO but the kicker? They're in Japanese. Master Ex Guide and RPG side Ultimania. So the answers are literally staring me in the face but I cannot decipher them! Aaaaarrrgh! But the whole point of buying the game in Japanese was voice porn to improve my very rusty skills so hopefully I'll be able to read the books and the dialogue without too much trouble. *crosses fingers*

Why...?

Why get a guide in a language you don't know? That makes no sense to me, at all @_@;;;

Long story...

(1) I speak a little Japanese and can read enough kanji so that I can work out the jist of what's written there some of the time and would probably be able to survive in Tokyo; survive mind you, not instantly adapt. I need to improve because speaking Japanese has proved to be a selling point at college/school interviews in the past and will probably help get my foot in the door at job interviews. So immersing myself in the language by trying to understand the guide is part of the training process. I strive to learn it a lot harder when I want to know what a sentence about Kuja translates as rather than reading a textbook every day.

(2) Ultimania books and Ex Guides are sort of the Japanese S-E geek's bible. They're both strategy guides AND encyclopedias so they include concept artwork, full character bios, interviews with the development team and some really nice stuff that never sees the light of day in the west as well as information that we probably didn't get ingame. I initially bought them for the rare extras but the strategy guide was an added bonus. I uploaded some of the stuff on the comm a while ago since I felt they were worth sharing with the other fans.

Bolder than I am.

I considered starting over from jump, but ultimately didn't do it. I might still do it later, but—well, I'm kind of chicken. Frankly, the idea of repeating that level 95 Feral Chaos makes me shudder.

That, and I've worked out so many good builds by now that I don't want to do it over.
