Well trance is a state of pure emotion (in FFIX and presumably it's a similar schtick for FFVI) so if they get really into it then trance sex usually occurs.

But since you asked, yes non-trance!sex does happen, and if you want to be spoilt then I shall provide the ending to Fill the Vessel's sequel.

MOAR OF THIS FLUFF FIRST!

“So…you are not without a voice…” he pants heavily, the pace of his thrusts dip to a slow beat. Terra snarls a little in disappointment and digs her claws in to emphasise.

“I refuse to reward deceit,” Kuja withdraws but he does not pull away from their tight embrace. His eyes lock onto hers with a penetrative stare. “Now tell me.”

She sighs in frustration. The moment’s over already and her appetite is nowhere near satiated. Speaking of which, she has an inexplicable desire for some dried meat all of a sudden.

“I’m hungry.” She looks up at the ceiling, wondering if she should make a sneak trip to the pantry, trying to determine whether it’s worth risking awaking the children. “Don’t ignore me.” Well if the poor things didn’t wake up after all that racket they just made then stumbling through in the dark won’t hurt.

She wriggles out from underneath him, pushing his arms away and getting up off the bed. “I’m just going to get something to eat; do you want anything?”

Kuja is almost too incredulous to rant. “…Eat!? EAT!? You promised me a surprise, you nymph, now where is it!?”
“Sorry, I’ll tell you in a few minutes.” Now she wants bread with cherry jam.
“No, you’ll tell me now!” He’s so indignant that his tail fluffs up and thwacks the bed in its own tantrum. Terra glides back and kisses his forehead. “Be patient.”

Then the taste of his skin on her lips causes Terra to gag. Immediately she sinks to the floor hacking with Kuja abandoning irritation for shock as he clasps her shoulders protectively.

It’s not as bad as she thought, there’s no gurgling sensation or rush of acid up her throat like earlier. Just wooziness and a shift in temperature.

“Terra!? Are you alright!?” He’s clinging tightly to her in panic like one of the children. “Mmm…” She nods weakly, trying to pull a reassuring smile. Her trance breaks and the beads of sweat glisten on her forehead.

“Dear, is this your…?” he wipes her forehead shakily, her shivers causing his own flesh to tremble. She shakes her head. “But then…are you ill?”

Terra’s hand gestures towards her belly and gives him an expectant look. It takes him a few minutes to put all the pieces together.

“Oh…”

HA! I am now protected from your spoilers 8D

BRB LOLING FOREVER AT KUJA'S TANTRUM

Wow that night ended on an awkward note. I think what took the cake was Kuja's "Oh..." at the end XD

ENDED!?

(Kuja shall always retain some childishness about him IMO even if he does mature in 012. I think that's one of the reasons Kujerra works so well, Terra gets to kick her mothering instict into overdrive.

And who said it was over!?)

Shock

“You’re…” Terra’s head nods rapidly as she pulls him closer for a hug. Delight is blazing off her face now.

“Isn’t it lovely?” Rapid kisses plant his neck. His expression still hasn’t changed. “We’re going to have a baby of our own!”

“Uh huh…”

She notices his hesitation and looks up. “I know it’s a bit much to take in---”
“A bit?”
“Well…when you think about it, it shouldn’t come as such a surprise. I mean we have been…busy for a while now and it’s not as though we took any precautions.”
“I know it’s just…”
“Just what?”
“I’m having a bit of trouble coming to terms with this…I mean I wasn’t exactly designed with this in mind---”
“But then why do you have---”
“That’s what I’m trying to understand!”
“Um, I don’t really follow…”
“The old man built me as an angel of death. No, no, he built me as a vessel… That’s right, so the vessel was supposed to be perfect for when a true Terran soul filled it. I wasn’t intended to keep it…” he raves into his chest.
“Kuja, you’re not making any sense.”
“That’s why Genomes aren’t an asexual species…”

As Kuja mutters, curled up in a ball, Terra’s stomach growls and she wonders if it’s safe to leave him like this. Throwing her nightgown on, she heads towards the door.

“…so naturally I should be able to—well am able to reproduce…”
“Err…I’m going to go get a snack. Are you going to be alright for a few minutes on your own?”
“and am---what---alone!?”
“I’ll come straight back.”
“No not me, you! Leave you unattended in such a delicate condition---what if you take ill again!?”
“I’m just heading to the pantry…”
“Oh right…” His face flushes the same crimson as his feathers. “But I insist nevertheless! I can’t risk anything happening to my little bird."

----------------

(so far this is the last one. But I always imagined Kuja can't quite get over the fact that he's an artificial lifeform so he'd be a little confused by the idea that he could breed even if there's more than enough evidence to the contrary)

I refer to that as mask-slip!Kuja when it happens in-game. Because he usually waltzes around with a genteel composed arrogance and yet when it slips, it slips bigtime. I adore it when that happens. The tantrums are hilarious but I have a very soft spot for the anxious side. But I really, really, really have a gigantic fangirl crush on ultra-bratty!Kuja.

Terra's got her hands full with this one. I've also got plans for Kuja to have freakout later on when he wonders if the kid will be born with a tail. Somehow I see him babbling about vanish spells whilst Terra kindly says "Yeah..." and tries to find something else to talk about.

What's wrong with tails?

It'll be a useful pretty tail so I don't see what's the problem here....Besides, Trance!Terra is on the furry side so what's the difference? *watches Kuja throw a melodrama fit*

Nothing! I'm all for 'em!

Kuja's veeeeeeeerrrry weird about the tail. This is mostly because it's a staple of being a Genome and therefore an artificial creature made by and belonging to Garland. FFIX quote:

Garland: "You judge only be appearances. I mean someone with a soul similar to yours. The one I sent to Gaia might also be called your brother... And his name is Kuja."
Zidane: "Kuja!? He's a Genome!? Impossible! He doesn't even have a tail..."
Garland: "He is only hiding it. He denies his own identity. He rejects the meaning of his own existence and tries to assert his own individuality. Don't you see the resemblance?"
Zidane: "Shut up! I'm not like him at all!"
Garland: "He said the same thing when speaking about the other Genomes: 'I'm not like these guys.'"

I wrote a reeeeeealllly long piece about Kuja's FFIX personality and how his backstory shaped him into the complex character he became (which helped convert Rai to the church of thongboy AND FFIX, ha ha!) so yeah...

But because he has such difficulty accepting the tail he believes that the rest of the world will. He's socially awkward like that.

(RUFF)

“What if it has a tail?”
“What’s wrong with that exactly? You have one---”
“Precisely! And no one else does! Our child is going to be tormented for their entire life with the stares of onlookers labelling them as some freak of nature!”

Well of course! This is the person who went OMGWTFBBQ!? at being told he wasn't immortal after all!

Terra: Stop being such a baby!
Kuja: But-
Terra: You're worse than the children.
Kid: Waaaaaah!!! I hurt my finger...!

I just cleared disc 2 yesterday (and keep expecting Garnet's Heroic BSOD because I want to get that part over with)

Ah yeah, the BSOD is annoying. I usually have Eiko as my white mage/summoner for most of the game. Garnet doesn't get her BSOD until Alexandria is destroyed (and Kujie-coo is most put out by Daddy's interference. I really hope for a remake just so we can see his WTF!face when he realizes that Garland has seized control of the invincible) and you won't get to control her until Zidane's run around Lindblum to make the potion for Cid.

If you need to know where the potion ingredients are gimme a shout, I can name their locations off the bat. /nerd

I prefer Dagger as my white mage but...

During that period I alternate between the two, mostly because I don't want Dagger falling behind on levels while everyone else powers up.
From: [identity profile] toffeethesnob.livejournal.com
I know what you mean. Usually I grind EVERYONE up until level 40 in preperation for Desert Palace and make sure everyone has their basic abilities mastered and try to have Dagger learn most of her summons.

Having Quina learn level 5 death by eating a whale zombie (you can find them on the beach of the lost contintinent) allows you to take down those Grand Dragons that loiter around outside Daguerro or the mountains above Gizmaluke's Grotto for 12'000 EXP and 3 AP a pop. It's a great way to save time if you want to beef them up. (Not so much for mastering abilities mind you but it's a start)
From: [identity profile] alkonost-storm.livejournal.com
I LOVED THE ITEM-ABILITY SYSTEM IN IX. IT MADE LEARNING ABILITIES A BLAST...Shame they didn't keep it
From: [identity profile] toffeethesnob.livejournal.com
IX did it better I feel but at least it got a nod. Now if only they can fix IX's levelling system so it's not such a chore.
