alkonost_storm: (Derpunari)
Ifrit
PuPu
Asura
Tiamat
Bahamut
Leviathan
Rubicante
Scarmiglione

Notice a pattern? Most of these summonstones increase BRV, which is always helpful in a fight. I like High BRV 8D And then there's ones like Leviathan and Scarmiglione, which reduce the opponent's BRV which is also VERY useful. Asura's good as well though admittedly there's always a good chance you won't get the effect you want. Still an awesome summon though and it's kinda sad she hasn't seen as many cameos as the other summons. D:

AND THUS I CONCLUDE MY QUOTA FOR THE DAY 8DD

Subtitle: I dunno which meme question I'll answer yet.

It's one thing to do a character profile and another to figure out their tropes. ONWARDS!

Shout-out: Her namesake is the character Lenne from Final Fantasy X-2.
Expy: Of Lenne, mostly because initially that served as the base of the character design's appearance. Personality wise, she's quite different.
Instant Awesome Just Add Dragons: Used to serve as a Dragoon in Deist's air force, resigning from service once her wyvern Falstaff had died.
Multi-Melee Master: Wields multiple weapons, her arsenal including an axe, a bastard sword, a spear, a chain sickle (used rarely) and throwing knives.
Lady of War: She fits the trope in that she leads a mercenary unit in her family's mercenary force but otherwise this troper is trying to figure out if she fits the other requirements.
Action Girl
Blade on a stick
: Having once been a dragoon, she favors spears.
Battle Couple: With Leon
Mama Bear: With Kain and Onion Knight Luneth, once this troper figures out when to best use that scenario
Baleful Polymorph: Can turn into a dragon thanks to a special suit of dragonmail armor.
Extreme Omnivore: Only in Dragonform.
Shipper on Deck: PalaMecia, anyone?
Friends with Benefits: With Leon.

  • He wants a Relationship Upgrade FYI
  • She believes he could do better. Oddly enough, it's only in relationship issues where self-esteem problems come up
Ethical Slut: In the sense that she doesn't take other partners when involved with someone. They might as well be married living in sin
Purple Eyes
  • Hers are hereditary but it seems to be a recurring trend among dragoons
Staff chick: Subverted in that while she knows some magic, she's a terrible healer and relies on recovery items.
Berserk Button: People interpreting her relationship with Leon the wrong way.
  • Justified in that she has commitment issues

EXPECT MORE TROPES SOON!

I'm gonna take it easy for the moment, just clearing one cloister at a time with maxed out characters. Note to self: remember to get ALL THE TENTS/COTTAGES.

Cloister of Beginnings: CLEARED

PC: Terra Branford (Alt 1)
Party: 1 (yep Terra solo'd this cloister)
Assists: Several (didn't count them)

Cloister of Encounters: Stopped at 13th Floor
PC: Terra Branford (Alt 1)
Party: Terra, Squall, WoL, Ultimecia
Assists: Gabranth, Golbez, Laguna, Lightning
Reason: Failed to meet Door requirement

Cloister of Encounters (2nd Attempt): CLEARED
PC: Terra Branford
Party: Terra, Squall, Bartz, Ultimecia, Sephiroth
Assists: Lost track XD

Right now only one or two come to mind and both are from XII:

"HEY BUCKETHEAD" and "DON'T BELIEVE ONDORE'S LIES!"

There's quite a few walking tin cans in Dissidia. Couldn't Vaan have used it on any of them? SE, I AM DISAPPOINT

OH WAIT I LIED, THERE'S ACTUALLY MORE:

"I, GARLAND, SHALL KNOCK YOU DOWN!"

Some reference to the Shantotto Ascension DLC for XI.

"Nice gun" and LIGHTNING PAAWNCH from XIII

Terra's world map animation should have featured her cuddling every moogle she came across. ALSO IT WOULD BE NEAT IF SHE COULD TRANCE AND FWOOSH LIKE THE WIND.

Bartz's acrophobia. Srsly where did it go, SE?

A continuation of Day 27 in the DDFF meme, this time listing non-FF characters. *pulls out Cosmos-brand notepad* FROM THE TOP:

Fenris (Dragon Age 2): Admittedly my logic for this character is that there should at least be someone voiced by Gideon Emery in the game. *dodges bullets* That said, Fenris has quite a bit of character dev potential and it would be interesting to note his interactions with the Cosmos warriors.

In the Dragon Age setting, magic isn't available to everyone and those who are born with it, if caught by the Magic Police force known as the Templars, are taken to the Circles of Magi, where they have to live out the rest of their lives under Templar supervision. Those who evaded the Templars are known as apostates, and are considered illegal. To the more extremist Templars, apostate is synonimous with maleficar, which is a mage who uses Blood Magic. This is a stark contrast to most of the FF-verses where anyone could learn magic if they have the knowledge.

Admittedly, while it's possible to friendlymance Fenris despite being a mage in-game, it's not enough to make him completely disregard his prejudice against mages (knowing his character history, it's understandable). In DDFF, the plot potential would lie in his interactions with Terra and Yuna (confirmed mage PCs): Terra for her struggle to control her Esper-powers (as it stands, she's the one who could prove his case once and for all that mages are always and will be dangerous people that should not be treated as such) and with Yuna even more so, as her summoning powers will pretty much be the same as Blood Magic in his game (there's no summoner specialization in Dragon Age).

Shepard (Mass Effect series): Okay I'll be honest; I just want Shepard in this because then there will be another Multi-Range fighter besides Laguna XD. Admittedly, while Shepard doesn't have an impressive satellite laser in his/her arsenal, he/she does carry some impressive weapons; in Mass Effect 2 he/she can carry up to four different types of guns ranging from pistols to submachine weapons like a flame thrower or grenade launcher.

Depending on the player's choice of career, Shepard may also be able to wield Biotics, ME's brand of "magic" (more psionic/psychic based-powers tbh). Story potential here would be Shepard trying to cope with the situation he/she is in. Compared to other Cosmos Warriors, Shepard is quite normal, an Alliance soldier who was named Spectre. Granted, that's pretty impressive in the ME world (Spectres are an elite force, and Shep is the first human to join their ranks). In comparison to the characters wielding magics and other such skills, Shepard is a human armed with multiple firearms (and possibly) psionic abilities known as Biotics.

And that's all for now...there's gonna be other choices but I'm still trying to figure out if they'd work and how XD

I miss having the PCs running around in their alts outside of combat. I'm not asking for the alts to be acknowledged in Cutscenes but I would have been happy with just seeing it on the world map!

On a more serious note, a story mode for Chaos Characters. Sure, there were SOME reports where we play as them but it wasn't enough. At the least I would have liked a story mode where I could level up the Chaos PCs the same way as the Cosmos ones. Then I wouldn't be dragging my feet when it came to maxing them out and stuff.

Quest mode needed more work. First off a bigger text limit. The current one does murder on my spelling DX. Also the way to make the quests just seemed so tedious and long. Plus they never explained the quest symbols. EASIER QUEST SYSTEM PLZ, SE

^New vid I just put up. Enjoy my fail gaming guys XD I'm actually better than this but for some reason Golbez decided to be a bully that day.

Started a new game on DDFF, and I'd probably delete the old file if not for fear of losing Rai's friend card info. I just felt it wasn't getting anywhere. Thanks to FC, I was pretty much stuck and not really getting anywhere in 000.

Here's hoping this try goes better than the last. *regrets not buying a guide for this game*

Admittedly I've kinda sorta lost track of what day I left off as so I guess this meme will no longer contain a semblance of going through the list in order. So far most of my definite favorite tracks are all FFIX. And why not? FFIX had wonderful music. However, that's not to say all my favorite tracks are from FFIX. FROM THE TOP:

FFIX:

  • Roses of May: ever since listening to Katethegreat19's lyrics of this song I've fallen in love with it. So quite naturally, I took the trouble of getting that music dlc for the game. It is a soft, gentle piece for a fighting game and a joy to listen to. Actually if Leon had been in the game, I could see this being his theme, all things considering...
    www.youtube.com/watch
  • Not Alone: This piece plays during Zidane's BSOD in Disc III and is another testament to how good the FFIX soundtrack really is. I think even those who haven't played the game would get the sentiments that were conveyed in this piece.

www.youtube.com/watch

FFVIII:

  • Man with the Golden Machine Gun: Always a fun piece to listen to during a fight, this theme always played during the Laguna segments of FFVIII

FFVI:

  • Terra's Theme: Lately I've grown to like this theme and I'm just sad it's not available as BGM for the game.

FFX:

  • Otherworld: Awesome song is awesome (tbh I prefer the Black Mages's cover)
  • Battle Theme: I liked the battle theme in FFX, particularly how different it sounded from battle themes in earlier games. Maybe it was the fact that this sounds like actual instruments rather than computerized sounds, IDK.

Okay, those are all the ones that come up so far. Expect to see another fill today, plus a continuation (of sorts) to Day 27

alkonost_storm: (Default)

Oh dear, where to begin...there's so many people I wish had been in this game and the one before. Alright, it's listing time! *whips out a notepad with the Cosmos ensign on it* FROM THE TOP:

Leonhart: Doing an rp with Railenthe has really made this guy grow on me and frankly, I believe he's overdue for a character upgrade. As a Chaos Warrior, Leon would be the ideal middle ground between mage and warrior: both his physical and magical damage are quite high in-game. It would also be interesting to see how his DK powers would develop in this game. It'd be so cool if SE took a Top Cow-esque approach here but that might be too scary...

Vayne Carrudas Solidor: Another choice for the Chaos group, because let's face it, they need more physical attackers: Sephy, Gabranth and Jecht ain't gonna cut it. Vayne stands out not only as a melee fighter but also as a job class: he's the first FFvillain who fights with his fists (though he probably uses some magic, I wouldn't know I haven't beaten my copy yet). Frankly I've been wanting him to show up in the series since the first game, but SE decided on Gabranth instead. Also, there's plot potential to be had with Vayne in the group. Depending on how you look at it, if not for his machiavellian approach to things, Vayne could have actually been a good guy. Which in turn leads to some interesting twists...

Oerba Yun Fang: If there had to be any extras from XIII, this would have been my candidate. As far as Factions go, she's a possible Chaos candidate due to her role in the XIII plotline. On the other hand, a technicality that goes with that role might place her among the earlier Cosmos Warriors like Shantotto and Prishe.

Barthandelus: I was hoping this guy would be Lightning's Chaos counterpart if only because of how deep his Magnificent Bastardry goes in their game. Plotwise, Barthandelus would be outscheming all the other Chaos Warriors and trolling them into doing as he wants them to do; he'd also take the time to deliver some well-timed BSODs to some of the Cosmos Warriors. Because that's how the Fal Cie roll *pulls on cool shades*

Ashelia B'Nargin Dalmasca: She was an awesome character in her own game and it would have made my day if she had been in Dissidia. There's also my hope of Foe Yay between her and Vayne but that's beside the point. Gameplay-wise she'd probably be able to equip all the stuff Terra can't, and even though I haven't played VI, I wish that Terra was in this game.

And so far that's everyone that comes to mind for this entry. Input is always welcome!

^A lie, disregard it because I just remembered who  I was missing!

Ramza Beoulve: Not unlike Shantotto and Prishe, Ramza would pretty much be BAMF! in comparison to the current Cosmos Warriors. Like many in the game's plotline he wants to end the conflict; unlike the others, he doesn't really trust Cosmos or Chaos due to his own story in FFT. At any rate, it would have been interesting to play as Ramza in DDFF. In fact one way of determining his class roles could have been that you could import your FFT info into DDFF. I've overthought this haven't I...?

EDIT: To clear up some confusion when I mentioned Top Cow I was reffering to the company that sells the Witchblade series. The story is quite long, but essentially it involves thirteen artifacts (the last one appearing when the twelve are gathered) all with strange and mystical powers, as well as the people that control these artifacts and get caught up in the mess surrounding them. The one artifact that requires attention at the moment is called The Darkness.

^Essentially if Leon had been in the game, this is what I was hoping his DK powers would become.

OH COME ON IT WOULD HAVE BEEN EPIC AND YOU KNOW IT

alkonost_storm: (Default)

I'll edit this entry later with pics.

This is one of the easier questions for me, even though there are quite a few cool alternate costumes. Anyways, the honors go to....*pulls out envelope and opens it*
  • Zidane's "Assassin Marcus' Cloak" alt. I know it's a ref to the endgame in IX, but for some reason my thoughts keep going to Assassin's Creed rather than FFIX.
  • Mateus' "Light/Heavenly Emperor" form. It was an alt everyone was looking forward to and naturally, SE did not disappoint. Being a Mateus fan, I HAD TO GET THIS ONE DURR HURR.
  • Firion's Devil!Headdress alt. *has no idea what it's actually called* I like that it's so colorful, first off; very Amano-ish when it comes to colors and also DEM HORNS are about as tall as WoL's. POSSIBLE COMPETITION, MAYBE?
  • Design-wise, I think Lightning's second alt could have gotten more work, maybe made to look closer in appearance to the uniforms worn by PSICOM Huntress and SANCTUM Inquisitrix. It's one of those costumes that grows on you the longer you look at it. That said, I think the part that appealed to me the most were the stockings. I'm weird like that.
  • Prishe's second alt was another I liked. I didn't play XI so I don't know what was the costume's original purpose. On Prishe though, it looks like something you'd wear to the beach.
  • Ultimecia's Edea alt. From the moment I saw it, I pretty much fell in love with Edea's sorceress' outfit especially DAT HAT so naturally when news came out that this was her second alt guess who was a very happy fan. Still takes getting used to lack of wings though...
I'll probably add more later on when I think of any others.

alkonost_storm: (Default)

B-But I have so many of those! T_T

You know what? I'll just stick to the one character and leave it at that mmkay?

BRV Moveset for Laguna:

Ground:
  • Machine Gun
  • Grenade Bomb
  • Missile Barrage
Aerial:
  • Shotgun
  • Sticky Bomb
  • Homing Bazooka
These usually have a good hit rate and machine gun can easily cause BRV Breaks because IT NEVER STOPS HITTING YOU ONCE IT'S LOCKED ON.

Yeah lame meme entry is lame I know DX
alkonost_storm: (Default)

...Another hard question. Oh well this should be easier than day five at least. Anyway FROM THE TOP!

Blood Weapons/Magic: If only because they recover HP with every HP attack. That said, it's a little harder to pull off Blood Magic because SE decided there couldn't be a little black window for the buttons like in Fervid Blazer.

GESTALT MODE: Technically this isn't the term used in DDFF but it was the term used in Lightning's game. The attacks used in the EX Burst are actually the attacks she performs with Odin in XIII as well....SQUARE Y U LEAVE OUT HORSE!ODIN?!

Holy Dragoon: This is one of the ex-burst where you'd have to work to miss the button cues. It's ridiculously easy to pull off...Here's wondering why Yuna and Prishe's EX Bursts couldn't be just as easy...

In general, I love EX Mode and the EX Burst, not only do you get a fancy form and extra abilities but the crit rate gets a massive boost as well, which leads to easier BRV Breaks. And when the time comes....IT WILL BE THE BEST ASS-KICKING EVER!
alkonost_storm: (Default)

What kind of attack though? BRV? HP? BE SPECIFIC MEME!!!

...

You know what, I'll just keep to HP Attacks for this one.

Siegfried Warrior of Light: Shining Wave.
Firion: Lord of Arms (In the first game it was Weaponsmaster)
Onion Knight: Quake
Cecil: Paladin Force
Kain: Gungnir, Sky Rave
Bartz: Soul Eater (or whatever his first ground starter move was called in the first game)
Terra: Tornado, Meltdown
Cloud: Braver
Tifa: Burning Arrow
Squall: Blasting Zone
Laguna: Satellite Laser
Zidane: Stellar Circle 5, Grand Lethal
Tidus: Jecht Shot
Yuna: Mega Flare
Shantotto: Earth spell chain (whatever it's called)
Prishe: Nullifying Dropkick
Vaan: Torrent
Lightning: Razor Gale, Lightning Strike

...And that's all for now cause I'm not sure which attacks I like best Chaos side

alkonost_storm: (Default)

Technically this is supposed to be Day Five (Favorite Attack/s) of the meme but since I'm running a blank on that one, I will instead skip ahead to a question that I definitely CAN answer: my favorite voice in the game.

There's some lovely voices in this game and while I admit that listening to Kain talk would NEVER EVER get old, there's another voice that gets to me EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

No, you're not hallucinating.

....Well, where did you think Kain learned to have such a sexy voice? Impossible to learn that on his own! NOPE, he got voice lessons from the best person in the field: TEAM CROTCHFACE Garland Chaos.

And my quota for the day is DONE.

PS: Apparently Chaos' VA also voiceacted as Dr. Facilier from Princess and the Frog....Oddly enough the Shadow Man's voice failed to have the same effect XD
alkonost_storm: (Default)
Like most other players out there these stages would have to be: Planet Core (both normal and Chaos), Ultimecia's Castle (both), Pandemonium (both), Chaos!Sky Fortress Bahamut (THOSE F*CKIN WINDS), but the worst offender of this group would have to be Chaos!World of Darkness.

Like Chaos!Pandemonium, Chaos!World of Darkness also goes through a terrain switch. Unlike Chaos!Pandemonium, it doesn't give a warning, though. >_<

On a sidenote, why do they use the Omega symbol for the Chaos arenas? Omega =/= Chaos....

Unless this is actually a form of Fridge!Brilliance because the world IS ending when Shade Impulse takes place...!
alkonost_storm: (Default)
Order's sanctuary. Prima Vista. Crystal Tower. Sky Fortress Bahamut. Orphan's Cradle. Dream's End.

Pretty much any stage with a ton of running space. Though out of all the stages in the new game I gotta say that my favorite so far is Sky Fortress Bahamut. The open sky, fighting on an UBER-airship fortress powered by Mist...Everything is awesome as long as you don't look down, okay?! 8D

....Oh dear, Bartz would HATE this stage. XD
alkonost_storm: (Default)

Hmm...where to begin? This one's tricky since I happen to like more than one character in this game. Time for pic and paragraph spamming!

Starting off with the first member of Team Cannon Fodder: Lightning. It's a bit awkward at first having to switch paradigms on a PSP (nevermind that it sort of reflects how you switch paradigms in the actual game) but once you get used to that it's not very hard to get used to her fighting style.

Starting out, I usually preferred to main her Commando role but eventually started relying more on Ravager after she learned more moves for it. Her Waterga spell can be especially useful for tripping up the opponent, being similar to Mateus' Flares in that once one is blocked, Lightning can send out another, then counter-block the first Waterga so that the opponent now has two of those to worry about. It's also nice that she can use healing spells to recover BRV but I've never had much need for it myself, personally. It's much easier to get BRV by attacking the enemy.

FFXII finally granted my dream of using characters that could wield all weapon types. Licenses and Gambits aside, it was fun to have a mage-type character run around with a battleaxe or the Zodiac Spear.

Naturally, Vaan brings this aspect of XII with him in DDFF. While using the quickening finishers as HP attacks is fun, the attacks that really won me over were his BRV attacks; they had a high hit rate and with more than one attack angle. That sealed the deal for me.

To shorten this a bit, I like to use most of team cannon fodder except for Tifa. Some of her moves are nice to be sure, but I feel she's a bit lacking combo-wise. On a sidenote, I would have liked to see the dressphere system implemented into Yuna's gameplay in 012 but that's another story so we move on.

Outside of Team Cannon Fodder, the characters I like to use are:

Firion: For the same reasons as Vaan pretty much. ALSO, BLOOD WEAPONS

Terra: I usually like to pick female fighters in Fighting games and of course Terra's no exception. Her moveset is also very good though for some reason I can never cast Ultima. That said I still want the Terra that could damn near equip EVERYTHING back.

Prishe: COMBOS. Just. COMBOS.

Gilgamesh: He's fun to use and his victory pose is always a laugh. Seems unfair that only he gets the applause/confetti treatment though...

CoD: IMMAH FIRIN MAH LAYZOR, MOTHERF*CKERS!

Ultimecia: I'm not that good with her but I like her moves. The timing on her EX Burst is tricky as hell but oh so satisfying once you pull it off.

Squall: He's the first FFHero I was introduced to so he's naturally one of my favorites. That he has a nice moveset also helps.

Siegfried WoL: Another fave of mine, mainly due to his BRV combos. His HP attacks aren't half-bad though.

And thus Day 2 is concluded and I must work on Day 3...

alkonost_storm: (Default)
After some thought, I've decided that my prefered faction would have to be Cosmos. It's true that they are the heroes and that it's usually a given for good to triumph over evil. On the other hand, it's somewhat unfair to the Chaos faction because you hardly get to view the conflict from their end. I could go on about this, but it's a subject for another day.

The Cosmos faction does provide a very good reason to cheer them on, however: they're actively trying to end the cycles and stop the fighting so that everyone can go home again. The Chaos faction on the other hand, intend to use the cycles to achieve their own ends, ones that may not even be that permanent as the world in DDFF is so unstable.

That is why I throw my support behind Team Cosmos; they're trying to save everyone--even the villains--by stopping the cycles that keep them trapped and forced to fight in an endless struggle for dominance.
